THE PROCESS:

Preparation of the work surface:

CC&G takes great care to ensure that any surrounding areas are protected and that smells from the refinishing process are properly

Removed with our state of the art exhaust units.

Cleaning and Preparation:

We first remove the old bead of caulk around the perimeter of the fixture. The surface is prepared  to ensure to ensure super adhesion. Next the surface is cleaned thoroughly with a propriaty two step cleaner to remove soaps, oils, water stains and other surface impediments. Masking paper is then put around the tub area and floor, ensuring a clean area to work.

Bonding Process:

CC&G will apply a coat of bonding agent, to bond the new finish to the old surface. This is the key to super adhesion on all our surfaces, especially porcelain and tile. This process has a proven track record for well over 15 years and its strength and durability will Undoubtedly speak for itself for years to come.

Top Coat Application:

We begin applying 2 coats of primer and 3 coats of Acrylic Urethane (allowing for proper drying between coats).We remove all paper mask and re- apply a caulk bead to seal cracks and gaps. Our technicians will go over maintenance and care instructions for your new surface before we leave, ensuring you ease of maintenance. Let dry 24 - 48 hours and your tub is ready to be used.

Cleaning and Maintenance:

Do not let a leaky faucet go. Leaky faucets should always be repaired. Over time, water has a tendency of breaking down most surfaces it comes in contact with.  Letting water build up on your surface could eventually lead to problems later on. (even pure porcelain will break down eventually, causing problems and staining).

Do not use suction cup mats. Leaving these mats on the surface for considerable amounts of time could trap water between these cups, causing  the metal ores in the water to crystallize and attach it self to the refinished surface.(not covered under warranty).

Do not use harsh abrasives, gritty soaps and or bleach derivatives .This could cause a wearing down of the gloss .When in doubt, treat your fixture like a new car finish and apply some common sense. 

Do not pick surface dust off your surface in time they will become brittle and break off. 

Try to wipe your fixture down after every use, this will minimize your up keep on your surface.

Pros and Cons:

What are the pros and cons of bathtub liners?

Pros

• Most liners are fairly durable and resist chipping and scratching.
• Liners may be the only alternative to replacement for tubs that are severely damaged or deteriorated to a point where they can't be economically refinished.

Cons

• Liners are expensive, while liners themselves usually cost
• 200-1000 dollars, the total price to the consumer is between 500.00 to 4000.00 dollars.
• Most liners look and feel like plastic
• Liners take several weeks to install- they must be custom molded, which requires one trip to measure, to order from the factory, time to ship, and a second trip to install
• Liners can create plumbing problems because of the added thickness,  of the liner, it may require an extension of the drain and overflow.
• Liners have a bad reputation for allowing water to accumulate between the old tub and the new liner. This water is almost impossible to remove. The result can be a "squishy" feeling each time someone steps in and out of the tub. Not only can the displaced water create "squishy" noises, but the standing water becomes stagnant and foul, creating obnoxious odor problems.
   
  Any small crack or hole which develops in the caulking along the seam between the liner and the vertical wall surround, can allow water to penetrate.
• Liners are fairly durable, but they can be scratched and damaged they will eventually wear out.
• Liners can be difficult to replace, since liners are glued to the old tub when installed, they usually have to be ripped out or cut out in order to replace them.
• Liners come in a limited amount of color choices.
